I’ve been adding baking soda in with my normal laundry detergent, and vinegar in a downy ball. I spilled some vinegar on the baking soda, it fizzed up and wasn’t a big deal. Now I’ve discovered some faded/bleached out spots on some of my clothing. Could the reaction amongst the vinegar and the baking soda have triggered this?

It very well could have. Vinegar is an acid, baking soda is a base, so they react when used together. I use them together, along with salt, to clean sink drains. Your best bet might be to use one or the other in a load, but not both. Good luck!
